I’m a big fan of David Tobocman (both the person and the musician). His music follows the type of songs that I gravitated to as a young girl. As a fan of both Mister Rogers and oddball cartoons like M.U.S.H. (yes, that would be a short-lived animated spoof of M.A.S.H. featuring canines!) I always appreciated both sweet and silly in equal amounts. David Tobocman’s Very Helpful Songs finds just the right way to teach important lessons in a musical manner that is sentimental without being saccharine. I’m especially partial to the title track from Lemonade School and “It’s You I Like” (perhaps my favorite Fred Rogers cover ever).  For those of us lucky to be in the LA area, you can catch him this month at the Abbot Kinney Festival KidsQuad, Sunday, September 25th at 11:30am!
