HYP was mentioned in an article on the occasion of Barney’s 20th Anniversary:
“My two rules are ‘No Barney, No Britney,’ ” Amy Trulock told the Wall Street Journal, describing the children’s music she streams on her website, Hipyoungparent.com.
The LA Times article closes with a comparison to Mr. Rogers. I continue to be inspired every day by Fred McFeely Rogers in all aspects of my life for his unconditional acceptance and gentle compassion. With this regard, I do want to point out that my “No Barney, No Britney” philosophy/sound-bite is meant to be a preference rather than a slam. Besides, I do give the purple dinosaur his due respect. After all, there were few things that could get the kids I babysat or taught in Sunday School to tidy like simply humming his “Clean Up” ditty! That being said, while I did just score a new sweet Mr. Rogers record off eBay… Barney, Baby Bop & BJ shall still be kept at bay.
